Military Aviation Requirements

Military Aviation Requirements

“If you feel the intrinsic need to provide transparency and you wish to set standards for your own benefit, what better than to mirror your requirements against the civil requirements”

Against this background my team and I drafted the Netherland Military Aviation Requirements for Aerodromes, Air Navigation Service Providers, and the Netherlands Military Rules of the Air for the Military Aviation Authority the Netherlands. They are now, as far as practicable, based on the EASA regulations 2017/373 for ATM/ANS, 139/2014 for Aerodromes and the 923/2012 SERA

Impact assessment of SESAR regulation on military aviation

“SES/SESAR legislation does not apply to military operations and training, but the sky is a single continuum that is used by both civil and military aviation, for this reason States should ensure a level of safety and interoperability with the same effect..”

In this context I participated in a project of the Royal Netherlands Air Force supported by the NLR in which the impact of SESAR regulation on military aviation in the Netherlands was assessed. The outcome enables decision makers to determine the necessity to equip to civil standard .

Tailor Made Training

Military Aviation Advice provided a two-day training for the Operational Support & Development department of Air Traffic Control the Netherlands (LVNL). In this training we shared knowledge about the various roles that military play in the Total Aviation System. Military Aviation Advice has explained specific aspects of the diverse roles military fulfill such as regulator, supervisor, airspace user, air traffic service provider and aerodrome operator. All this in the light of the 1ATM progamme in which LVNL will perform the role of air navigation service provider in the Netherlands airspace below FL245 and at the military aerodromes on behalf of the Netherlands Ministry of Defense.
